On Mindfulness:

Being up in the middle of the night with a sick child is not what drives you mad. What drives you to madness is that you want to be in bed, sleeping. Mindfulness is letting go of what you want and how you wish things were, accepting the reality of what is, and attending to what's in front of you.

Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to the present -- with curiosity and without judgment. It is living consciously, being aware of what is happening moment to moment, without judging your experience or trying to change it. Inherent in the concept of mindfulness is the idea of surrender.
